– We will continue to develop the network in France in 2024-2025, for which we have already raised all the necessary funds.
– We will be looking for funds to build the network in the U.S., so we need $49,652. We have asked the Phauna Project for $50,000, but we are not at all sure that we will get it, so we haven’t included it in the table and assume that it is still to be found. So for the USA project we have a funding gap of $49,652.
– We’ll be looking for funding to set up the network in India, so we need $61826: we applied for support from Animal Charity Evaluators, but were turned down (ACE received 324 applications this year and will probably only be able to fund about 40). So we have a funding gap of $61826 for the India project.
Estimated budget France 2024-2025
This covers the operation of the RS in France, which will now be in full funding.
We have already received $5,000 from Animal Charity Evaluator and we have begun the process of redesigning our logo and graphics page (a process that is almost complete) and website.
We also received $5,000 from Thrive Grant and and $1,080 from Lush France to finance our main communications costs, such as printing materials, social networks, producing a video presenting the Sentience Network, etc.
French social benefits are provided and will cover much of the wages paid in France.
We’ve requested $7000 from L214 to supplement salary costs, which we’re confident we’ll receive, so we’re including it in the table.
We are also confident that we will receive just over $800 in individual support.

This covers the establishment of the RS in the USA, which has yet to be fully funded.

The scenario corresponds to the case where we can hire one people (30h/week) for 12 months, in the USA and one people (9h/week) for 12 months in France.
The persons hired will be responsible for
- developing our core mission now by encouraging and supporting the creation of new Sentience chapters.
- increasing the Association’s development potential in order to be able to realize our long-term ambition: to become a major network of student animal rights activists.
Costs:

Salary Project Manager in France : (9h/week for one year) $12033/year
The person in charge in France will be assisted by another member of staff, Yves Bonnardel, who will act on a voluntary (non-salaried) basis.
Additional costs (transportation, communication, documentation, etc.) are estimated at $2500.

Looking to the Future
Looking to the Future, we are exploring the possibility of incorporating some self-funding into our project, through a system of contributions from the network’s antennas, as well as from Sentience members. We will also continue to approach other foundations, as well as EA supporters, vegan businesses, etc.
We also believe that campaigning to veganize campus canteens should open the door to other grants (VegFund, etc.).
